Arsenal on alert after latest Tielemans contract update
Arsenal and boss Mikel Arteta could be put on alert after contract talks seem to have reached a stalemate between Leicester City and key Belgian international midfielder Youri Tielemans.

That comes via reports in Spanish outlet MARCA that claim that the two parties have yet to make headway on reaching an agreement for an extension of terms with the RSC Anderlecht academy graduate at the King Power Stadium, with his contract set to expire after the end of next season.
The Gunners have recently been linked with interest in the 24-year-old midfield star who has cemented himself as one of the top midfielders in England since his arrival from AS Monaco on loan in 2019 before a full deal was struck the following year.
How Arsenal will respond to the update remains up in the air at current, but the north London giants have openly been in the market for reinforcements in the center of the park this month and could persist down that avenue in the summer as well.

Links with a loan move for Juventus’ Arthur Melo edge closer to a solution while the club has also harbored desires in bringing Olympique Lyonnais standout Bruno Guimarães to the Emirates.
Arsenal remain light in central midfield after Hale End product Ainsley Maitland-Niles left on loan for the rest of the season with AS Roma, and are down to just four first-team options through Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, and Sambi Lokonga; two of which are on AFCON assignment with Ghana and Egypt this month respectively.
Rodgers is ‘ready for the next one’ to come in if Foxes lose Belgian star
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers spoke out regarding the contract situation of star man Youri Tielemans, stating that should the Belgian midfield ace leave the club amid contractual stalemate that would see the Foxes prefer to sell than allow him to walk on a free, that he is prepared to press on and be ready for the next player to step into the breach.

“You always have to [plan for life without players], that is key. You always have to be looking ahead, that’s important. Youri is at an age and at a stage in his contract where he has to ensure he looks at every option.
I would love it to be here at Leicester, that is natural, but I understand it’s a very short career. Once the player is committed, focused and professional it’s never a worry for me. With Youri you can see his joy of being here, he loves being here and you have to respect these guys’ careers are short. If we are going to lose one we have to be ready for the next one to come in.”
Should the club fail to secure Tielemans to an extension, the need to recruit a replacement would be of paramount importance. At current, Rodgers would be able to call upon Wilfred Ndidi, Boubakaray Soumaré, Nampalys Mendy, Hamza Choudhury, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in a midfield quintet that lacks both the goals and creativity that Tieleman’s brings to the table.
